We are a careers service designed to help people working in the Emergency Services who want to change careers. We recognise the unique challenges people working in this sector face, and how daunting it can be to even consider trying something else.

There are plenty of well established career and employment websites to choose from, but sometimes its hard to know where to even start.
Most people enter into a career in the emergency services with a desire to help others. These careers require dedication, self sacrifice and exhausting shift work, not to mention high work loads and constant pressure from the media and public. Often by the time people realise they have had enough, they find that they have invested so much of themselves into their career, they feel detached from other sectors of work, struggle to imagine themselves in any other role, and don't even know where to start. Often these people have worked up to a higher pay grade than they started on and become reliant on the income they have earned, meaning other lines of work with lower rates of pay are out of the question, already limiting their career change options. We recognise that whilst your career might not have taught you how to fix a car or run a set of accounts in an office, it has provided you with many skills that can be hard to put into writing - Resilience, work load management, communication skills, decision making, time management, computer and writing skills, paperwork, working to deadlines, thinking under pressure, managing conflict, accountability. We hand pick jobs that require and value these skills by speaking to select employers who would need people with this skill set.
Salary:
Having worked in careers that require caring for others and making sacrifices people see their jobs as a vocation, but at its most basic level a career is about the money that hits your bank account each month. Becoming used to living on a higher pay scale as an emergency service worker it can be disheartening searching for jobs that advertise their pay at hourly rates, or with low and unsustainable annual salaries. We aim to only list jobs that advertise annual salaries rather than hourly pay, and which provide a pay rate that still lets you pay the bills each month when leaving your current sector of work.
Training:
Sometimes moving to other sectors of work realistically requires re training and for those unsure what career they want to choose, it can help to chase what you are interested in, and often the work can follow. We choose our training courses with our target audience in mind and only look to list relevant courses that people want to engage with.
